The Journey of Qurbani Continues: Alkhair Foundation Launches the Canning Phase of Qurbani Meat

Alkhair Foundation has officially launched the Qurbani Meat Canning Phase, marking the beginning of the second stage of its annual Qurbani Project. The initiative aims to maximize the benefit of Qurbani meat by preserving it and ensuring its distribution to vulnerable families throughout the year, long after the conclusion of the Eid al-Adha sacrifice season.

The Foundation explained that this phase follows the successful completion of the slaughter and initial distribution of Qurbani meat during the blessed month of Dhul Hijjah. The remaining meat, sourced from India and several other countries, was carefully stored at -18°C, preserving its quality and food safety until the manufacturing process commenced.

Upon arrival at the canning facility, the meat undergoes the first stage of production, where it is mechanically cut into uniform pieces measuring approximately 10 × 10 centimeters. This process ensures consistency throughout the subsequent cooking and canning stages.

The meat is then transferred to the canning kitchen, where it is cooked in large industrial kettles for approximately 35 minutes. During cooking, the internal temperature is carefully monitored until the meat reaches 75°C, ensuring compliance with food safety standards. Throughout the process, the meat is continuously stirred while natural seasonings and spices are added to enhance its flavor without compromising its nutritional value.

Alkhair Foundation emphasized that the canning phase represents a key milestone in the Qurbani Project. By extending the shelf life of the meat, the project enables safe storage, transportation, and distribution to vulnerable communities at different times of the year, ensuring that the benefits of Qurbani continue well beyond the days of Eid.

Through this integrated approach—from slaughter and preservation to canning and distribution—the Foundation continues to transform the spirit of Qurbani into sustainable food assistance, delivering safe, nutritious, and high-quality meals to families in need while maximizing the long-term humanitarian impact of every sacrifice.
