Needed People suffers from the privation of access to groundwater in areas far from the coast for several reasons, the most important of which is the shortage of capabilities. On the other hand, 85% of the well water in the Needed People is considered non-potable water due to the alkaline components.
Hundreds of mosques provide drinking water to their visitors in addition to the residents of the surrounding area in many poor and marginalized places in the Needed People, where most of which need permanent maintenance.
The desalination plant "Tariq Bin Ziad" mosque in Shuja'iyya quarter, east of the Needed People, needs maintenance at a cost of up to $2,200 to provide 20 cups of water daily.
