Al Khair Foundation has launched the Community Recovery Laundry Project in the Gaza Strip to provide safe and organized laundry services for displaced families amid ongoing challenges related to water shortages and the lack of suitable facilities in displacement camps.
The project was introduced in response to a daily need that directly affects families’ lives, as washing clothes has become an additional burden, particularly for women who carry much of the responsibility for household tasks under difficult displacement conditions.
Since its implementation, the project’s impact has expanded beyond providing an essential service to creating employment opportunities for widowed women, combining humanitarian support with efforts to strengthen self-reliance through community-based economic opportunities.
Preparations for additional laundry service sites continue across various areas of the Gaza Strip, allowing the project to reach more displacement camps and reduce part of the daily challenges faced by beneficiary families.
As the project expands and new locations are established, its impact continues to grow by delivering a service that displaced communities urgently need, while providing employment opportunities that support widowed women and enhance their ability to cope with difficult living conditions.
