Sudan is currently facing one of the most severe humanitarian crises in the world, following a prolonged armed conflict that has devastated livelihoods and basic services across the country. As violence continues and conditions deteriorate, Alkhair Foundation launched an urgent humanitarian response to support displaced families—particularly those fleeing El Fasher and residing in Al Dabba displacement camps—many of whom were left without shelter or access to essential resources.

A Deepening Crisis: Key Facts and Figures

According to United Nations agencies and humanitarian partners, more than 30 million people—over half of Sudan’s population—are in urgent need of humanitarian assistance. The conflict has triggered the largest internal displacement crisis in the world, with over 11 million people forcibly displaced inside Sudan, while millions more have sought refuge in neighboring countries.

Food insecurity has reached alarming levels. Over 21 million people are facing acute food insecurity, with famine-like conditions reported in parts of Darfur, including areas around El Fasher. At the same time, the collapse of health services and water systems has increased the risk of disease outbreaks, placing already vulnerable communities at even greater risk—especially women, children, and the elderly.

Alkhair Foundation’s Emergency Intervention

In response to these urgent needs, Alkhair Foundation mobilized its field teams to deliver immediate food assistanceto displaced families from El Fasher and residents of Al Dabba camps. The intervention focused on meeting the most basic needs of families who had lost their homes, income sources, and access to food.

Despite operating in extremely challenging and insecure conditions, field teams worked tirelessly to ensure that aid reached those most in need as quickly as possible. The response included the distribution of essential food supplies aimed at alleviating hunger and providing a measure of stability for displaced households.

A Commitment to Humanity

This emergency response reflects Alkhair Foundation’s unwavering commitment to rapid action during humanitarian emergencies, prioritizing human dignity and life above all else. By acting swiftly and impartially, the Foundation continues to stand alongside displaced communities during one of the darkest chapters in Sudan’s recent history.

As the crisis persists, such interventions remain vital—not only to save lives today, but to help affected families maintain resilience and hope amid ongoing uncertainty.
